EVA Material of the Moment

Used in the production of shoes, sandals, yoga and fitness mats, sports equipment, toys, and various other products, EVA is currently one of the most versatile materials. But what is EVA? 

EVA, an acronym for ethylene vinyl acetate, is an elastomeric polymer that can be used to create products similar to rubber. Different types of EVA can be produced from this plastic material, including modified polyethylene vinyl acetate (low-density EVA), thermoplastic ethylene vinyl acetate (medium-density EVA), and rubbery ethylene vinyl acetate (high-density EVA).

The main characteristics of EVA include lightweight, durability, water repellency, high hygiene, resistance to chemicals, high impact and vibration absorption, stress crack resistance, low water absorption rate, and the ability to resist fungi and bacteria. In essence, it is resistant to abrasion, water, and moisture, providing good cushioning and shock absorption. EVA is often used as acoustic and thermal insulation for buildings and vehicles.

EVA is utilized in various sectors, including adhesive production, photovoltaic solar panels, packaging industry, filling material, production of protective gear for sports facilities, schools, nursing homes, and other public and private spaces, cable insulation, and footwear production.

Jewelry and the biomedical sector also use EVA for creating colorful and non-toxic products. Expanded EVA is widely used in the production of colorful toys for children, packaging for high-end products, and the creation of mats and accessories for gyms and pools.

The EVA market has experienced an average annual growth rate of 4.3% in the last decade, with a global consumption of 630,000 tonnes in 2020.

EVA IN FOOTWEAR

In our specific sector, particularly in footwear, EVA is one of the most commonly used materials for creating comfortable and durable soles. This plastic has become a must-have for athletic and work shoes, among others.

EVA CALZURO LIGHTS

Due to its softness and flexibility, EVA provides excellent cushioning and a high level of impact and vibration absorption. Furthermore, its resistance to abrasion and wear makes it suitable for daily use. 

EVA soles are lightweight, durable, water repellent, hygienic, and resistant to chemicals. Depending on the vinyl acetate content, they can also resist oils and ozone. EVA soles, found in most flip-flops, slippers, house shoes, and sandals, are highly appreciated for their qualities, durability, and lightweight nature. Moreover, they support the natural anatomy of the foot, ensuring optimal comfort.

EVA is primarily used in the production of sandals, work or house slippers, flip-flops, and athletic shoes. Additionally, being easy to work with and produce, it allows for comfortable and affordable shoes for everyone.
