Meet Matthew Butler
ICU social worker, therapist, and advocate, Matthew Butler has spent nearly 15 years helping people navigate some of life's most challenging moments. Whether he's support patients and families through critical illness, coordinating discharge plans, or simply offering a listening ear, Matthew's work is rooted in compassion, connection, and making a meaningful difference.
For Matthew, every interaction is an opportunity to help someone feel seen, supported, and cared for.
A Career Built Around Helping Others
Matthew has worked in social work for almost 15 years, including the past three years in a hospital setting, and has been a therapist for nearly six years.
His passion for the profession started with a desire to help others and create positive change.
"I've always been interested and passionate about helping others. I feel like I can make a difference in people's lives, and society at large. I like people and I like studying how people interact with each other and the world around them. I think advocating for positive change is important, and social work allows me to do that in small and large ways."
Today, that passion is reflected in the care and support he provides to patients and their loved ones every day.
Supporting Patients Through Every Step
No two days look the same for Matthew. His work includes providing emotional support to patients and families, helping navigate resources, assisting with discharge planning, supporting those facing critical illness or end-of-life care, and collaborating with interdisciplinary healthcare teams.
The variety is one of the things he enjoys most about his profession.
His role also keeps him moving throughout the day. Depending on the shift, Matthew spends anywhere from six to twelve hours on his feet, walking through the hospital, climbing stairs, and traveling between patient rooms.
Why Matthew Chooses Calzuro
After trying many different shoes throughout his career, Matthew found that Calzuro clogs offered the stability, comfort, and support he needed for long days on his feet.
He appreciates being able to slip them on and off easily and wipe them clean whenever needed, an important feature in a busy hospital environment.
His favorite features include:
- Firm support for long hours of standing and walking
- Easy-to-clean material
- Durable construction for everyday wear
- Breathability that helps keep his feet cool and dry
Matthew also says Calzuro clogs help him avoid flaring foot pain and plantar fasciitis, even during long shifts.
Favorite Calzuro Style
Matthew is currently wearing the Black Classic Clogs with Holes and hopes to add at least one fun color to his collection in the future.
Making a Difference Every Day
Matthew hopes people understand that social work is a broad and diverse profession,
"Social work is a wide and varied field. Everyone needs help and support from time to time, and I love filling in life's gaps when I can."
Through every patient interaction, Matthew continues to make a meaningful impact by providing support, guidance, and compassion when it's needed most.
